Crystal Palace give Marc Guehi & Adam Wharton injury updates ahead of England duty

Palace host their south London rivals at Selhurst Park on Saturday with the Eagles hoping to make the cup quarter-finals for the second time in four seasons.

They’ll be backed to do so, with Glasner’s side enjoying a fantastic run of form in the Premier League, winning eight and losing just three of their last 16 games.

Guehi has been imperative to this form, which has only ramped up his transfer interest, with the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United interested in the £70million-rated centre-back.

But there were fears that the 24-year-old would not be available for the Millwall clash after he appeared to be in some discomfort following Tuesday night’s 4-1 win over Aston Villa.

It was especially concerning not only for Palace fans but England supporters too, with Guehi expected to be a key player for new Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel, with the start of 2026 World Cup qualifying just a few weeks’ away.

Thankfully for all involved, Glasner was able to give a very positive injury update on his players in Friday’s pre-match press conference.

‘[Guehi] is okay. It helped that we had one more day between these two games,’ the Austrian manager said.

‘The only change in the squad is Matheus Franca will be in the squad, and Caleb Kporha won’t be, but all others are ready.

‘Everybody it’s possible [to play]. It’s the round of the last 16 and we will play with the best available team, with who’s ready and fit, and these players will play.

‘It’s not about giving someone a gift – “now you get some minutes because it’s an FA Cup game” – this is disrespectful to Millwall. They can expect that we play with our best team, because this is what they deserve.’

While nearly everyone is fit to play Millwall, Glasner admits he is not sure if Adam Wharton will feature after the midfielder played 78 minutes against Villa – his first start since October after recovering from a groin injury.

Tuchel was at Selhurst Park to watch the 21-year-old put in a superb performance, with Wharton, Guehi and Palace teammates Eberechi Eze, Ben Chilwell and Dean Henderson all aiming to be in his first Three Lions squad.

‘To be honest, I’m not decided [if Wharton] will play at the moment. We have to be smart and not say “he had a great game, so he’ll play again three days later”,’ Glasner added.

‘He was injured for a very long time, then had 10 minutes at Fulham, and 80 minutes against Villa. It’s the third game in seven days – so let’s see. We have one more day.

‘Of course, he was still a little bit fatigued, playing his first minutes after four or five months. Let’s see what the best decision is for him, because we don’t want him to just be available for the Villa game and then for him to get injured again – so let’s see.’

After Millwall, Palace have one more match before the March international break, when they host Ipswich in the Premier League next Saturday.

The Tuchel era of England begins on March 21 against Albania followed by another Wembley clash against Latvia three days later.
