Celtic's Maeda 'wrongly denied equaliser against Hibs'

The Scottish Premiership leaders thought they had equalised with seven minutes remaining when forward Maeda, who had already pulled one goal back, met an Alistair Johnston cross.

But, although the assistant referee did not flag, VAR ruled that the ball had crossed the bye-line before the right-back sent the ball across.

Replays appeared inconclusive as to whether the whole of the ball was out of play and the kmi panel voted by four to one that the decision to disallow the goal was incorrect.

"One panel member felt VAR was correct to intervene as they believed one of the angles showed the ball out of play," it stated.

However, the panel unanimously agreed with VAR's decision to award Hibs' Josh Campbell a goal in the first half despite the assistant referee flagging for offside.

The panel also decided that VAR was right to overturn four other decisions.

Rangers striker Hamza Igamane had initially been shown a red card during their defeat by St Mirren.

The panel also voted by four to one to back VAR's decision to award a goal to St Mirren striker Mikael Mandron despite an assistant flagging for a foul in the build-up.

The panel was unanimous in backing the decision to overturn a penalty awarded to Kilmarnock for a challenge by Kristers Tobers on Liam Donnelly during Aberdeen's 1-0 win.

Meanwhile, it also agreed that VAR was correct to intervene to disallow a goal scored by Aberdeen's Ante Palaversa because of an offside in the build-up.
