Since buying CLEAR out of bankruptcy and becoming CEO in 2010, Caryn Seidman Becker has helped to make the secure identity platform a household name for frequent fliers who are seeking a less stressful time at the airport.

Serving more than 50 airports across the U.S, CLEAR is now offering a faster security line process for more than 27 million members. Last year, CLEAR became a TSA PreCheck enrollment provider, enabling a new way to enroll and renew memberships to further reduce travel friction.

But Seidman Becker's vision of a frictionless future goes well beyond just the airport, something the company made significant inroads on in 2024.

Reducing the lines to enter sporting events and concerts was one of the first areas beyond airports that CLEAR focused on, and the company added the recently opened $2 billion Steve Ballmer-owned Intuit Dome in California to its roster of arenas and stadiums that also includes the Chase Center in San Francisco, Madison Square Garden in New York City, and Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

CLEAR's focus on unique identity verification is helping not just shorten lines, but to streamline customer experiences. Last May, CLEAR launched a new initiative with Wellstar Health System, one of the largest healthcare systems in Georgia, that uses CLEAR technology to verify patient identities, allowing them to just take a selfie at a kiosk to check-in for their appointments when they arrive.

CLEAR technology is also being used to protect health-care systems from cybersecurity threats. Indiana-based Community Health Network is now working with CLEAR to streamline password reset processes, avoiding possible issues with multi-factor authentication or password reset calls that can be rife with phishing attempts.

CLEAR's leadership around identity verification tools is also helping it foster new alliances with major companies. At Home Depot, you can use CLEAR to verify your identity to rent tools or a truck. Uber drivers who want to know more about who is getting in their car can now see that the person they're picking up had their identity verified with CLEAR. Investing platform Public is using CLEAR to verify investors who are opening new accounts.

"A verified identity isn't just a checkmark; it's the foundation for everything we do in a high stakes digital world," Seidman Becker wrote in the company's 2024 third quarter shareholder letter.
