Call the Midwife season 14 episode 8 cast as much-loved Sister makes comeback

Call the Midwife returns to BBC One for the season 14 finale and its all systems go at Nonnatus House when a mother and baby home is evacuated. Meanwhile, Sister Catherine (played by Molly Vevers) goes on an emotional journey as she takes her first vows and is officially welcomed into the Order.

Nancy Corrigan (Megan Cusack) makes a comeback as her wedding plans take a surprise turn. Actress Megan recently announced the sad news she would not appear in future seasons of the series.

She told Radio Times she was keen to pursue more theatre work, saying: "Sometimes, you've got to step out of your comfort zone to grow. I've learnt so much, but I'm at the start of my career, and I need to take a leap of faith.

"It's bittersweet, really. I've made lifelong friendships there, and I get to take those with me. But when I think about not rocking up to set and seeing Tim, who's part of the grips team, with his guitar hanging out of his van and serenading people at half six in the morning."

Paula Cunningham - Kitty Anderson

Kitty Anderson makes a comeback as the pregnant youngster Paula, but viewers may also recognise her as a young Pippa in A Good Girl's Guide to Murder.

She also played a young Jessica in The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself, and appeared in an episode of Doctors.

Grace Cunningham - Caroline Faber

Caroline Faber is back as Paula's mother and she has also played series regular Sue Ashbury in Joan for ITVX.

Her other credits include Prime Target, Grantchester and Merlin.

Philip Cunningham - Paul Thornley

Paul Thornley plays Paula's dad and he is a British actor known for his stage roles in The Three Musketeers and It's a Wonderful Life.

He also played Ron Weasley in the original London cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

The star is married to English actress Chloe Howman and he has one child.

Sister Hilda - Fenella Woolgar

Fenella Woolgar makes a surprise comeback as Sister Hilda when Sister Catherine takes her vows.

Fenella is a 55-year-old English film, theatre and TV actress known for her roles in Bright Young Things, Swallows and Doctor Who.

She is married to Robert Harland and has three children.

Helen Cantwell - Oli Fyne

Oli Fyne is a Scottish actress, writer and director who plays Catherine's sister and she is known for her roles in Stella and Amadeus.

She cultivated her love for acting doing shows at the Fringe Festival.

Mavis Wakeman - Stacey Norris

Stacey Norris is an actress, director and producer who has had guest roles in The Diplomat, This is Going to Hurt and EastEnders.

Shirley Hicks - Bethany Audley

Bethany Audley may be recognised for her guest roles in EastEnders and The Royal Mob.

Roger Noble - Conor O'Donnell

Conor O'Donnell is back as Nancy's husband-to-be Roger and he has previously starred in Derry Girls and Say Nothing.

He also had a small role in the series Blue Lights.

Maggie Hobbs - Chloe Burnell

Chloe Burnell is mostly known for her stage roles, with Call the Midwife marking her small screen debut.

Sandra Goddard - Saffron Dey

Saffron Dey is a London born actor who is known for her theatre roles, most notably playing the role of Angie in Top Girls at the Liverpool Everyman.

Janine Hicks - Scarlett Rayner

Scarlett Rayner is a young actress who played Alice in the series Silverpoint.

She also played Princess in the series Trying and has had small guest roles in Sexy Beast and Casualty.

Sareeta Shah - Ruhthie Durang
