Sabrina Carpenter divided fans with her performance at the BRIT Awards last night.
The Espresso singer took to the stage at the annual music event at London's O2 Arena this evening to perform her biggest hits including Espresso and Bed Chem. Sabrina is picking up the Global Success Award tonight, becoming the first ever international artist to get given the award, which has previously gone to the likes of Adele and Ed Sheeran.
As Sabrina took to the stage, the singer wowed with a performance in a red lacy outfit as her and her dancers performed to the innuendo laden song, Taking to social media, fans made their feelings clear about the performance.
One wrote: "RIP to the 9pm watershed," whilst a second added: "Well this is just an awkward watch sat with the parents." A third shared: "I love sabrina so much cos I can see the British public reporting this to ofcom immediately," with a fourth adding: "Bit inappropriate for an awards show…."
Another viewer branded the performance an "Ofcom complaint waiting" to happen while one other wrote: "Christ, you might as well put porn on prime time Saturday night. What is Sabrina Carptener doing?"
Other fans, though, loved the performance, with one writing: "SABRINAS PERFORMANCE WAS AMAZING!! but im so scared bc i just know people are gonna complain. we love you sab," as another shared: "People criticising Sabrina Carpenter’s outfit/performance clearly don’t understand her lore. She’s iconic."
Sabrina won the Global Success Award at the BRITs after her phenomenal international sales. This year, the BRITS committee decided to open up the award to overseas artists, meaning Sabrina could take home the huge accolade.
The singer dominated global charts in 2024, including holding the number one UK single slot for 21 weeks and was the first artist to do so in over seven decades. She also was the first female artist to ever hold the top three spots at the same time for her three biggest tracks - Espresso, Taste and Please Please Please.
Sabrina also replicated a record held by The Beatles as she became the first artist to have their first three Top 5 hits in the Top5 at the same time, a feat the famous band achieved over six decades ago.
Damian Christian, Chair of the BRIT Committee for 2025, had said at the time: "Congratulations to Sabrina on winning this prestigious award. Everyone involved in the show is looking forward to her performance, which promises to be one of the highlights of the night."
