Former Denmark international Jonas Lossl has joined Brentford from FC Midtjylland on loan until the end of the season.
Lossl will be available for selection once he has received international clearance and there is the option to make the move permanent.
The 32-year-old, who won one cap in 2016, had two loan spells at Huddersfield and also spent two years at Everton, but he failed to make an appearance at Goodison.
Thomas Frank needed to bring another goalkeeper to the club after losing No 1 David Raya to a serious knee injury back in October.
Raya sustained ligament damage to his left knee during Brentford's 2-1 defeat against Leicester, which is expected to keep him out of action until February at the earliest.
The Spanish shot-stopper had made a strong start to the campaign, keeping three clean sheets in his first nine Premier League outings to help Frank's men hit the ground running in the top flight.
He has since been replaced in the sticks by compatriot Alvaro Fernandez, who joined on loan from Spanish second-tier side Huesca in the summer.
But Lossl's arrival was crucial given the only other goalkeepers available for Frank are 21-year-old Patrik Gunarsson and 18-year-old Matthew Cox.
The Dane could earn a place on the bench for Brentford's next Premier League outing against Aston Villa on January 2.
And he may not have to wait too long for a first start, with Port Vale to come in the FA Cup third round six days later.
