Boy, 15, stabbed at UK school as classrooms placed in 'lockdown'

A stabbing at a school sent classrooms into "lockdown" as a 15-year-old boy was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

All Saints Catholic High School, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, has reported to parents that a “serious incident” has happened. Messages sent to families say: "Students will be released when police give permission.”

A teen was allegedly stabbed at the school at about 12.17pm today and another teenage boy has been detained by the police.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson has said: "Teenager in custody following school stabbing. Following a stabbing at a school in Sheffield, a teenage boy has been detained by police and our officers are on scene.

"At 12.17pm today (Monday, February 3) we received reports of a stabbing at All Saints Catholic High School on Granville Road in Sheffield. A 15-year-old boy is in hospital with serious injuries. His family is aware. Emergency services are on scene and the school grounds currently remain closed."

"Granville Road is closed from the tram stop to Fitzwalter Road, and we are urging people to avoid the area while emergency services carry out their work. We would like to reassure parents of pupils that we do not deem there to be a further risk at the school and further updates will be shared when possible."

This is the second time in less than a week All Saints’ has been locked down.

Staff and pupils were given the “stay put” order on January 29 over “threats of violence" between “a small number of students.”

This first incident led to those involved being “escorted off the premises.” No violence or injuries were reported on January 29.

An anonymous parent has commented: "This is frightening to hear so soon after a previous incident and I hope and pray everyone is okay and the incident is resolved peacefully.

“Now is not the time for recriminations but the school will have some serious questions to answer in the coming days.”
