Bodies found in UK river confirmed to be missing sisters

The two bodies found in a river in Aberdeen have been identified and confirmed as sisters.

Henrietta and Eliza Huszti were both aged 32, and were sisters as a part of triplets. They both disappeared on January 7, and their bodies were found in the River Dee near where they were last seen alive. Supt David Howieson, of Police Scotland, said: "The two bodies recovered from the River Dee on Friday, 31 January, have now been formally identified as Henrietta and Eliza Huszti.

"Inquiries remain ongoing to establish the exact cause of death however there are no apparent suspicious circumstances." The sisters, originally from Hungary, moved to Scotland 10 years ago.

Henrietta and Eliza's disappearance sparked a huge search and rescue operation last month. According to the police reports, they were last seen during the early hours on January 7.

They crossed the Victoria Bridge and turned right onto a footpath next to the river heading towards Aberdeen Boat Club. Worryingly, the weather was freezing cold, leaving officials worried they could become seriously ill.

Police also said the two women visited the bridge the day before they disappeared. They also texted their landlady from the bridge area in the early hours of 7 January to say they would not return to their flat.

This was news to relatives, who were not told the sisters would be leaving their home. Their brother Jozsef told BBC News last month it that was "strange" of them.

The first body had been found near Queen Elizabeth Bridge at about 07:55 on 31 January. Officals later found the second body in an area of the river near to the Victoria Bridge at about 21:05.

The Victoria Bridge and Queen Elizabeth Bridge are about half a mile apart on the River Dee. Currently, their deaths are not suspicious. but an investigation is being carried out.
