ITV's Britain's Got Talent fans are convinced they know who the next Golden Buzzer act is.
The much-loved ITV talent show is back on screens this weekend, with Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, Bruno Tonioli and KSI at the helm. A sneak peek of the upcoming episode has stirred excitement among viewers, though not without a few complaints.
The clip, posted on BGT’s social media, features a new group called Cheer Re Mans, who wow the audience with a James Bond-inspired cheerleading performance. The act has already sparked a flurry of reactions from social media users.b The competition made its return to our screens last month, showcasing a variety of talented performers who have impressed the judges.
Among the Golden Buzzer acts so far are 24-year-old comedian and impressionist Will Burns, and 29-year-old singer Vinnie McKee.
However, after a recent clip featuring Cheer Re Mans, fans are already convinced the group will be sailing through to the semi-finals. One person said: “That is sure to be the golden buzzer,” meanwhile a second fan of the show chimed in: “That’s a golden buzzer act if ever I’ve seen one.”
A third wrote: “This act definitely semi-final worthy.” While Cheer Re Mans received plenty of praise for their impressive performance, some BGT fans voiced their frustration with one element of the show – the slow-motion footage. During the group's routine, several members were tossed into the air, and the clip then shifted to slow motion, which left some viewers less than impressed.
Despite countless impressive auditions, fans were left less than pleased with one act, which has since sparked hundreds of Ofcom complaints. Auzzy Blood's horror-themed performance took a disturbing turn, which many viewers found too gruesome to watch.
Media watchdog Ofcom said it has received a total of 771 complaints for the launch episode of season 18 of the ITV show. A spokeswoman for Ofcom said: “The vast majority of complaints were about Auzzy Blood’s routine. Around 90 of the complainants also complained about nudity in Akira Ohashi’s routine.”
The episode saw US cabaret performer Blood, real name Austin Punton, who competed previously on America’s Got Talent, insert a series of metallic objects into his face. Meanwhile, Ohashi, from Tokyo, was also voted through to the next stage after a naked act. His act saw him cover his bottom half with several objects, with the task becoming more difficult as the items he used got smaller, or moved faster.
BGT sees performers compete for a chance to perform in the Royal Variety Performance and a cash prize of £250,000.
