BGT fans in tears as Post Office scandal victims reunite for special performance

Britain's Got Talent fans were in tears as 39 victims of the Post Office scandal reunited.

The group of 39 sub-postmasters who were affected by the scandal performed this evening for the Britain's Got Talent judges. The choir, aptly named Hear Our Voice, performed a special track for the emotional judges and audience.

Fans tuning into the ITV talent show were in tears as they watched the incredible and heartbreaking performance. Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon were also emotional at the special performance.

One fan wrote: "What a beautiful choir put together when going through the most awful of time #BritainsGotTalent," whilst a second added: "The winners of #BritainsGotTalent 2025? Haven't even heard them yet and already think they deserve it." A third shared: "Holy s*** they're good! Really really good! Which makes voting for them a lot easier because this Post Office scandal choir is definitely going to win #BGT this year," with a fourth writing: "Hear Our Voice delivered. They’re first class. They have my stamp of approval."

An angry Simon Cowell told them: "I really hope you win this battle because it was disgusting how you were all treated. I think what happened is what happens when idiots are in charge. They were bullies, they were stupid, incompetent and crooked. You’ve risen above this and you’re going to win because the public is behind you.

"You should attribute the lyric, falling down, to the morons who were in charge because it’s all going to come falling down — it will on that lot because they are, as I said, incredibly stupid people."

Over 900 sub-postmasters were wrongfully prosecuted after faulty Horizon software made it look as though money was missing from their branch accounts. A number of the victims were honoured in the King's New Years Honours list.

Lee Castleton, Seema Misra, Chris Head and Jo Hamilton were made OBEs for services to justice - after Sir Alan Bates was knighted earlier in 2024. Alan also won a Daily Mirror Pride of Britain award for his campaign.

Alan initially turned down an OBE after learning that Paula Vennells, the ex-Post Office boss, had became a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2019. She did later hand back her CBE.

Speaking to The Mirror, he had said: "The first thing that sprang to my mind while reading the letter was Paula Vennells still had a CBE. I felt so deeply insulted. She presided over a policy of harassing hundreds of innocent people. It’s not just that the Government hasn’t asked her to return it. What’s even worse is that despite knowing the strength of feeling about it, how people have suffered and some cases died on her watch – she doesn’t feel inclined to give it back."
