BBC drama that had fans 'hooked from the beginning' streaming now

Thriller enthusiasts are in for a real weekend binge-watch as The Tourist, the gripping BBC drama, is now available to stream in its entirety on iPlayer at no cost. First hitting screens in 2022, the show has quickly churned out two nail-biting seasons.

It spins the tale of an Irishman who finds himself in an Australian Outback hospital with his memory wiped clean. As he pieces together his identity, we're taken on a wild ride alongside the 'tourist', facing the shadows of his history.

The series boasts a stellar cast with Jamie Dornan leading as the enigmatic Elliott.

He's supported by a talented ensemble including Sydney's own Danielle Macdonald (known from Bird Box), Victoria Haralabidou (of Black Snow fame), Greg Larson (from We Interrupt This Broadcast) and Shalom Brune-Franklin (star of Baby Reindeer).

Fans have been quick to draw parallels between The Tourist and the cult classic Fargo, noting the shared theme of crime unfolding in isolated locales. Yet, some argue that the Aussie setting adds an extra layer of intrigue.

One viewer raved on IMDB with an eight-star rating, saying: "The Tourist has a very Fargo feel to it, set in the vast open fields of Australia which makes it the more fascinating. Starting out with action and a mystery, this short series has enough eclectic elements to keep you captivated." (sic).

Another fan outlined why the drama is such a hit, commenting: "This series checks all the boxes. It's funny, the plot is exciting, intriguing, and well written. It was heart warming, wonderfully well written, set in beautiful locations and the actors are all extraordinary. I could not stop watching it once I had started. I was hooked from the beginning."

One viewer admitted their initial scepticism but ended up being pleasantly surprised: "I avoided watching this because I felt I had bigger expectations for it than deserved but it proved me wrong," reports Surrey Live.

They elaborated on their experience, "It is well executed, you get invested and root for the good of the main character even if it seems disaster follows him for a reason."

Another enthusiast of the thriller genre chimed in with their take, revealing: "There are plenty of twists and turns; these were neither too obvious nor too silly. There are a few genuinely shocking moments although none are too gory. The cast does a fine job bringing their interesting characters to life," they said.
